PRESENTATION

The international Young Peacemakers program's goal is to educate younger generations on issues of peacemaking and peacekeeping. This project promotes the values shared by the UN and AISP / SPIA.

Indeed, our experience has shown us that peace cannot be established on solid foundations without a reinforced education of the youngest.

AISP / SPIA is committed to educating younger generations to become the citizens of tomorrow, aware of and informed of peace issues as well as the challenges to be overcome. Therefore, the Young Peacemakers program is an educational and participatory project that is in continuity with the educational systems. Students also meet with peacekeepers and veterans, and visit the United Nations headquarters in Geneva.

This program is for elementary school students and takes place over a school year, divided into three terms, corresponding to three themes:

  • An introduction presenting the essential concepts promoted by the United Nations and applied by the AISP / SPIA;

  • A session addressing “Human Rights”;

  • A theme entitled “Citizen of France, of the world and of universal peace”. Throughout the year, different types of activities are offered by teachers and SPIA workers.

In order to encourage Young Peacemakers to participate, the completion of certain activities may result in the awarding of a symbolic graduation badge, ranging from a bronze beret to a gold helmet. It is important to note that the program can be adapted to each teacher and student, depending on their needs.
