Young Peacekeepers words

On October the 28th 2020, a round-table discussion was organized in the premises of the SPIA/AISP. The sanitary situation only allowed 3 children to attend instead of around ten: Nathan MAHIEUX (14 years old), Nour OUBRAMI (12 years old) and Catheryne ROBERT (7 years old).

During this round-table discussion various topics have been discussed such as discrimination towards disabled and from different origins people, the children’s right etc. We asked them if they have ever witnessed a scene where children’s right have not been respected. Nour thinks that disable children are not enough included in schools and they suffer too much from bullying. Therefore, it is important to fight against that. Nathan highlights also the issue about sexual orientation bullying and Catheryne wished peace in the world and let children play because they are not meant to witness conflicts.

During the conversation with the president Laurent ATTAR-BAYROU, it appears that, unanimously every children thinks that children’s right is not enough considered at schools, and that there is a lack of communication and awareness with adults.

Thus, Catheryne, Nour and Nathan wish that more round-table discussions are organized with adults working for peacekeeping. Very happy of this experience, they would be glad to have another similar experience to have another chance to express themselves. Children highlights the importance of promoting peacekeeping at schools.
